What counts as a lead, and how to process them

Within Sonar, any loan application that has been started but has not yet been submitted is considered a "lead".

New leads can be created by the borrower directly by referring them to the system, or indirectly via an originator filling out the necessary information for the borrower. In either case, you can find these options by clicking the circle with a plus sign (+).

Sending Referrals

To send a referral, select the plus sign (+) icon in the upper right corner of the Sonar application, then choose "Send Referral".

You will be prompted for basic information about the borrower. After filling out the necessary information, the borrower will receive an email with a link to fill out the application. Once the borrower has gotten to the stage where they enter their social security number, Sonar will create a lead.

For more information on referrals, see the Referrals article.

Smart App

The Smart App allows loan officers to fill out the application on behalf of the borrower. To start the Smart App, select the plus sign (+) icon in the upper right corner of the Sonar application, then select Take Application.

The Smart App is designed to follow a natural flow of conversation between the LO and the borrower, with a series of prompts for information.

For more information on the Smart App, see the Creating a New Loan article.
